SNJB’s KKHA Arts, SMGL Commerce and SPHJ Science College, Chandwad is a minority institute located in rural area which cater the needs of higher Education. The management runs different diploma and degree courses under one roof on self-finance basis. The College have a sound infrastructure in terms of laboratories and workshops as a support facilities. College is funded as a DST-FIST PG College (Level 0) by DST, Govt. of India. The College is a recipient of Best College Award (Rural) in 2015-16 by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune. Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses like B.A. (Marathi, English, Economics, History, Politics, Geography); M.A. (Marathi, English, Economics, History, Politics); B.Com. (Business Environment, Cost & Works Accounting); M.Com. (Business Administration, Advanced Cost Systems, Accounting) B.Sc. (Botany, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Physics & Zoology) & M.Sc. (Botany, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) are offered in this campus. UGC-NSQF courses like B.Voc. (Renewable Energy Management, Green House Management and Analytical Techniques in Pharmaceutical Analysis) Community College (DMLT) are introduced in the college. In addition to this different certificate (12) courses and add on hobby courses for girls (4) for self-employment are running by the college.
The College was established in 1970 (Arts & Commerce faculty) while Science faculty was introduced in 2010 and came on 100% Grant-in-aid basis in 2013 as it is the only one college of Chandwad Tehsil. The College faced first cycle in 2004 with B+ grade while second cycle in 2013 with CGPA 2.17 and ‘B’ Grade.
Almost all the faculty members is having Research Projects funded by UGC and SPPU Pune. The College has an International Research Collaboration in the field of Nanotechnology with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The College focuses specially on women, SC, ST, OBC, minorities students, physically challenged persons, economically weaker sections of the society by providing different earn-learn schemes of our institution and even various welfare schemes of Central & State Government.
In last five years institute has made the significant process in academic and administration activities. The total number of staff (Both Teaching & Non-Teaching) is increased. Academic flexibility is made available for stake holders in such a way that the entire post graduate courses in the all the three faculties are started. The student strength is increased from 1000 to 4500 in last five years. The total number of research projects sanctioned during this tenure is 36 with total layout of 72.48 Lakhs. The numbers of Add-on certificate courses which are started during the last five years are almost 15. Total seven National, Fourteen State, Seven University level events like conferences, workshops, seminars are organized in this period. Three faculty members are recognized as Research guides for M.Phil./Ph.D. and 5 got PG recognition. Almost nine faculty members have applied for the research guideship and PG recognition. UGC has sanctioned Community College Scheme and B.Voc. programmes to the institute with total layout 3 crores for 4 courses. DST-FIST was sanctioned to the college in this academic year for the Improvement of Science & Technology Infrastructure with the total grant of Rs. 50 lakhs. The college is shortlisted for the DBT Star College Scheme presentation in this academic year only. Piramal life sciences donated the library books of Pharmaceutical Sciences and even the infrastructure as well as consumables with furniture was procured form the same instate in 2014-15. Faculty members were awarded with the prestigious Best Teacher awards form Govt. of Maharashtra, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Bhaskar Ray and others. NSS programme officer was awarded with Best Officer by University and even our Annual Magazine Anand got prize from university. Total number of Research Papers published in Journals & Proceedings is almost 57 in last five years. The college has made the linkage with University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria for student and faculty exchange in Nanotechnology. Even college made linkages with the industries for the NSQF courses. Department of Botany has organized a Wild Vegetables Festival in this academic year which is the most popular event in last five years for faculty, students, educational institutes and society. Sufficient ICT infrastructure is made available to the faculty and students with total 153 computers with broadband connectivity and 15 smart classrooms with interactive boards. Almost more than 100 students are placed in different institutes and organizations in government and private sectors. Sports Department has organized various events at Intercollegiate and intergroup sports tournaments. Students have represented in intergroup, interuniversity, state, national and international level tournaments. As per the NAAC Peer Team Recommendations almost 100% Compliance was made by the college during last 5 years.
