Community College
The Community College Scheme is to offer low cost-high quality education locally that encompasses both skill development as well as traditional coursework, thereby providing opportunities to the learners to move directly to employment sector or to move up in higher education sector. The CCs are to offer knowledge –skill mixed programmes of different durations depending on the need of local industry leading to a certification at carious levels of NSQF.
- Eligibility : 10+2 or equivalent
- Scholarship : 1000/-p.m. per student
- Intake Capacity : 50
- Duration of courses under the scheme:
- Certificate course : 6 month - (30 Credits)
- Diploma course : 1 year - (60 Credits)
- Advance Diploma course : 2 years - (120 Credits)
- The course curriculum has 40% general education and 60% vocational education components.
- Ceiling of assistance under the scheme: Rs. 50,00,000/- per course, per annum.
- Students have the option of multiple exit after attaining a particular level of competency
- Sector skills Councils and Industry partners have to participate in the development of the curriculum, governance of the Community college, training of learners and also their assessment.
- Students obtaining diploma (NSQF Level 5) and advanced Diploma (NSQF Level 6) from Community colleges are eligible for admission into 2nd and 3rd year of B.Voc. degree programme respectively.
